One Ministry. One Vision. Generational Impact.
Since our founding, for 40 years and counting, we have remained dedicated to building a house of prayer where faith is strengthened, lives are transformed, and God’s presence is experienced across generations.
A History of Strong
Praise, Strong Word, Strong Worship…
Greater Ebenezer Ministries (GEM) was founded on December 15, 1971, when Pastor Murphy, along with a faithful group of 54 believers, gathered at 2705 Joy Road. Their desire was simple yet powerful: to worship God, serve His people, and build a house dedicated to prayer and praise. On February 21, 1972, the congregation, which had grown to approximately 60 members, moved into a new place of worship. United in spirit, it was prophesied that Greater Ebenezer would grow by leaps and bounds and that God’s blessings would continue to be poured out upon the ministry. That prophecy came to pass…
On Sunday, November 6, 1977, the congregation joyfully motorcaded to what would become its permanent home, celebrating and rejoicing in the Lord every step of the way. The church continued to experience tremendous growth, and by 1983 membership had expanded beyond 2,000, with new souls continually being added.
Through divine inspiration, Pastor Murphy not only led the purchase of the church building, but also emerged as a respected religious author, inventor, and spiritual leader. Under his guidance, Greater Ebenezer Ministries became a catalyst for mobilizing five additional churches, extending its reach and impact far beyond its walls.
3 Generations.
1 Calling…
The Murphy family represents 3 generations of faithful ministry, serving with unity, purpose, and a shared commitment to prayer and leadership. Bishop William H. Murphy Jr. has faithfully served the in the ministry for over 30 years and continues to lead Greater Ebenezer and New Mt. Moriah International Ministries, organizing citywide prayer vigils, weekly intercessory prayer, and local, regional, and national prayer workshops and conferences, all while pursuing his God given assignment to reclaim the Church as a House of Prayer. He is blessed to serve alongside his wife, Elder Donna Murphy, and their children, Brittany and Jasmine, as well as his son, Bishop William H. Murphy III, who serves as Senior Pastor of The dReam Center in Atlanta, Georgia. In honor of his sons, Minister DeVaughn Murphy and Pastor DeJaughn “Billy” Murphy, the Murphy family reflects a generational legacy of service, leadership, and devotion to God’s people.
